Meet Debra

I started a temp job at Fidelity Brokerage Services, Inc. soon after leaving graduate school at UMass Amherst many years ago, and was soon assigned to the trading terminal at market close to call back top clients to let them know how many shares and at what price they got their specific order. It was just before the dot-com years when companies would go public and the traders' phones would be ringing off the hook with customers clambering to buy. It was the beginning of what technical analysts call "the Eiffel Tower" formation, or: 

Many of you may remember those years, and how the market climbed and then fell just as quickly.

Moving on, after years working at Prudential where I got my insurance licenses and then my CFP®  designation, I switched to full time brokerage services at Merrill Lynch where I was trained by the best. With a small book of business I moved over to Smith Barney, where I was first introduced to the marvelous head of technical analysis, Louise Yamada. You may have seen her on CNBC or Bloomberg, sitting on a pile of old phone book. She was a very tiny woman who would stand up in front of us brokers and raise her arms high over her head holding printouts of stock charts, as she explained where she saw the market going and why. I was mesmerized. I wanted to be like her.

Fast forward some years, I studied and became a Chartered Market Technician, grew my business, and left Smith Barney to go independently on my own. I have now formed Cardinal Securities, and I am still looking at charts and watching market behavior. I have a substantial book of business, whereby I use technical analysis, and a little bit of fundamental analysis, to manage my clients' portfolios.
